Arwen
Playful LOTR Puppy
Arwen is one of a family of dogs whose owner abandoned them in the summer of 2024. When the owner moved, they left a mama dog and seven puppies behind. The puppies were all put into the same kennel together and left in the Louisiana heat with no food or water for over twenty-four hours. TMH board member Jessica called for help, and the dogs went into foster homes. Six of the puppies have now found their forever homes, but Arwen and her mother Sheila are still in boarding. Arwen is an energetic and playful girl who loves attention. She has demonstrated a little spiciness with other dogs in the past, particularly when food is involved, so potential fosters and adopters should take this into consideration. Despite this obstacle, she has a wonderful and entertaining personality and she deserves all the love! She is HW- and still intact; The Mutt House will cover her spay procedure.
Sheila
Sweet Momma
Sheila is the momma of a family of dogs whose owner abandoned them in the summer of 2024. When the owner moved, they left a mama dog and seven puppies behind. The puppies were all put into the same kennel together and left in the Louisiana heat with no food or water for over twenty-four hours, and Sheila's neck had bloody cuts from how tight the rope was while she was trying to get free. TMH board member Jessica called for help, and the dogs went into foster homes. Six of the puppies have now found their forever homes, but Sheila and her daughter Arwen are still in boarding just waiting for the right person to take her home. Sheila is a very energetic & loving dog. She is HW+, and still intact, but TMH will cover her HW treatment & her spay procedure.

Ruthie
Spunky gal
Ruthie is another pitty mama who was rescued from a dire situation. She and four puppies were living in neglect -- one puppy was so anemic from the fleas that he required a blood transfusion!
Ruthie is an independent lady now, and she would love a person of her own. Ruthie is an energetic girl who needs lots of play, and she will reward you with lots of kisses!
Ruthie is house trained, kennel trained, and HW-. She does get along with other dogs, but usually requires a slow introduction.
Barnaby
The goodest boy
Barnaby showed up in front of some apartments in the Fairfield neighborhood in early 2025. He found a comfortable spot and he stayed there for a few days. Tyrrell noticed him one evening while walking Meatball, and the poor thing just stayed still and gazed from afar. Tyrrell later realized that multiple people posted about him on Facebook, trying to find an owner, but no one ever emerged. Because the weather was about to plunge into freezing temperatures, Tyrrell went back out to pick him up. He was still curled up in his little spot, but he willingly came over to Tyrrell with a wagging tail when she called to him. He has been in multiple foster homes and has shown himself to be friendly with dogs, cats, and children. He is house trained. He is still intact, but The Mutt House will cover his neuter procedure.

Cricket
big snuggler
Cricket and her sister Ladybug were adopted together as puppies. Later, when they were about six months old, their adopter dropped them off in a kennel together in the front yard of the house where they were born. The homeowner, being disabled, could not even go let them out of the kennel. They sat there in the heat for over twenty-four hours, until a neighbor released them and put out a call for help. They came to The Mutt House, and then they both went to Royal Dog Training for a four-week board-and-train program! That means that when adopted, each of them comes with four free private lessons with RDT. Cricket and Ladybug both exemplified a combination of sweet snuggliness and puppy playfulness. Ladybug has since found her forever home & was adopted, but Cricket is still waiting for her chance. Cricket is still intact, but The Mutt House will cover her spay procedure. She is both dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly. Full disclosure: Cricket did once go after a feline foster sibling. The circumstances of this behavior are unknown; she currently lives with both dogs and cats and does not exhibit aggression toward them.
Danny Boy
happy-go-lucky pup
Danny Boy showed up in an alley in the Fairfield neighborhood and stayed in the same spot for a few days. A young couple of homeowners noticed him and fed him for a few days before putting out a call for help. He came to The Mutt House for a while, but has been in boarding for several months now. Danny Boy is a happy-go-lucky lad who wants nothing more than to please you and stare at you with adoration. He is HW- and still intact; The Mutt House will cover his neuter procedure.

Petunia
parvo surviving princess
One Friday night in the Highland neighborhood of Shreveport, a sweet but scrawny dog showed up at someone’s house. The homeowners were only able to keep her safe in their home for one night, so the next day Petunia came to The Mutt House. Since TMH was already full, the plan was to take this precious pup to the shelter the following Monday. On Monday morning, however, the poor girl broke with parvo. She then spent a week at a veterinary hospital, receiving $6,000 worth of lifesaving care! Petunia is a wonderful, loving, playful girl who deserves her own home. She plays well with other dogs, & she is HW- and spayed!
Dielle
a very good girl
Dielle and her baby boy were found as strays, and no owner ever came to reclaim them. Her son DJ -- now known as Cain -- has been adopted into a loving home, but Dielle is still waiting. She has been in boarding for months. She and her boy were originally named after their foster parents: "Dog Lisa" became "D.L." and that became "Dielle." She is intact and HW+, but The Mutt House will cover her spay procedure and her HW treatment. She did well with house training when she was in foster, and all she wants is love!

Meatball
The Mutt House Mascot
Meatball showed up on someone's carport in Bossier City. He got comfortable underneath an RV and refused to budge for a while. The owners and a neighbor put out a call for help; everyone was worried that if he wandered onto one specific property, he might be in danger of being shot. He allowed the neighbor and then Tyrrell to walk him on a leash, and he came to The Mutt House. Unfortunately, Meatball has not been able to meet many potential adopters, because he takes more time to trust people than other dogs. In part because of this obstacle, Meatball has become the mascot of The Mutt House -- we have special places in our hearts for the ones who have extra barriers to adoption. For the first few days that he was at The Mutt House, he did not even want Tyrrell to pet him. Now that he knows her well, however, he is nothing but a big, squishy loverboy! He has made other, non-Tyrrell friends as well, but it does take him a little while, so he needs extra patience and compassion. Meatball was HW+, but he has undergone the fast-kill treatment at South Shreveport Animal Hospital, and we are looking forward to the day we can get him re-tested and show that it is negative!
Sparky
handsome little boy
1 year old male, neutered & HW-!!

Bluey
precious blue-eyed boy
Bluey was found by Tyrrell to be living in an abandoned car. At first we thought he belonged to a deceased homeless man, but when scanned there was another owner listed. Once they were contacted, they said they didn't want him anymore. We've had him in boarding ever since, and they've already trained him to sit, stay, and shake paw. They absolutely love Bluey and said they wished they could adopt him because he's such a well-behaved little boy. The good news is he's HW- & neutered!!
Chaya
Sweet, soulful babygirl
